Adding
Sound: A Simple Three-Step Process
by Tony Gomez
Make your digital stills sing with a new program that can add sound to your
images so easily that you'll wonder why no one's thought of it before.
Up until now, viewing and sharing digital still pictures has pretty much
been a silent visual experience. But, using SoundPix Plus, you can add the
exciting and compelling element of sound to your digital images. Here's
a closer look.
The Plus Package
SoundPix Plus ($39.95 MSRP) is a PC Windows-only program that you can download
from the SoundPix Web site, www.soundpix.com. A version
to be available from retail stores is also planned. SoundPix Plus supports
the JPEG image format that digital cameras produce, and the unique aspect
of the SoundPix software is that the added sound is embedded in a JPEG copy
of the original image. This new "sound-embedded" JPEG can be shared with
others when the sound part is extracted by means of a SoundPix plug-in that
works with your Web-browsing software.
Adding Sound: A Simple Three-Step Process
SoundPix has simplified the creation of sound-embedded JPEGs into an easy
to use step by step process. Each of three steps is presented as a button
on the lower part of the SoundPix Plus graphical user interface, or GUI.

Did I like using SoundPix Plus? You bet I did! Never before has sound enhancement
of digital still images become so simple and fun to use. If you have a digicam
with a sound annotation feature, you're going to love SoundPix Plus. Even
if you don't, you can still add voice commentary or music once the images
are in your computer. And, sharing these sound-enhanced images is a snap
with the built-in Send e-Mail tool. I predict that the "good old days" of
enjoying digital still images in silence is coming to a rapid and deserved
end. |
